We define the ‘Zeigerpointer’<\/a> as images (in the scope of
\nprinted media reporting) of crime scenes, locations of accidents as well
\nas other locations in which some kind of thing has happened that can no
\nlonger be seen because the reported happening is already over and no
\ntraces are visible (either because none were produced or because they
\nwere already removed during the reinstatement of the status quo).
\nBecause in these cases there is nothing to take a picture of, the photo
\njournalist generally asks certain people \u2013 eyewitnesses, concerned
\nparties or somebody in charge \u2013 to point to the spot where ‘it’
\nhappened. ‘Zeigerpointers’ can unambiguously be defined with a couple of
\ncriteria they have to fulfil and therefore distinguish them from other
\npictures of people pointing at something. The reported event must not be
\nvisible through any other means than the pointing at the spot where
\n‘it’ happened. (You can find examples here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n
