Nice! <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n\tIn 1993 Johannes Grenzfurthner posted on Fidonet about his intention to<br \/>\n\tstart a fanzine on politics, network and pop culture, and Franz Ablinger<br \/>\n\tanswered almost immediately. That was how the Viennese \u201cmonochrom\u201d<br \/>\n\tcollective started. This thick hardcover publication seems to be the<br \/>\n\tperfect container for twenty years of activity, restating their history<br \/>\n\tin a different form. But although the publications have been constant<br \/>\n\tover time, they have confronted and engaged with a large number of<br \/>\n\tdifferent cultural and artistic contexts. This reflects the<br \/>\n\theterogeneity of the founding members, who share what used to be called a &#8220;communication guerrilla&#8221; background, but who embody different<br \/>\n\tattitudes towards communication in unexpected, sometimes quite extreme<br \/>\n\tfields. They have been and are dystopic but maintain an ironic and<br \/>\n\tcyberpunk attitude, talking about the future through performances,<br \/>\n\tfestivals, installations, sitcoms, theatre, video games, among other<br \/>\n\tmedia. The text makes clears their roots in their home country and their<br \/>\n\tawareness of the academic discourse in which they are situated. But the<br \/>\n\tbook also includes a catalogue of very symbolic exhibitions, which<br \/>\n\trepresents their main projects in a very playful and unifying way.
